Snake

The "Snake" ballpoint pen is a cigar shaped small pen, featuring a snake pattern of gold and red, made of black, red and clear urushi with metal hologram pigments und gold powder. The pen has been covered in 4 layers of black and red base urushi lacquer (wet sanded with #1000 grid sandpaper after each application and curing). The snake pattern was painted in red urushi and gilded with powdergold. The next layers where done with clear urushi, until the pen seemed to be almost black - brown in color. Once the urushi was completely cured, the pen was wet sanded until the gold became visible and showed through the lacquer. For the finishing kijo-mi urushi got applicated on the pen and wiped off with filtering paper. After curing for additional 24hrs, the pen got polished. Length of the production process: 2 months.
